Adventures in the Health Care "System" 5
The results of the latest ultrasound are in and the answer is.... there is no answer! Are we any of us surprised? Probably not.
What to do? What to do? I asked and the answer was annoying at best: track the symptoms in a calendar/log until the next regularly scheduled appointment... IN JANUARY!!!
Asked if the last problem is to reoccur should I call? No, just track it. Apparently I am only to call if the symptoms worsen, there is pain, etc.
I feel as though I am getting that classic response of "silly woman, it is all in your head". It's a wonder that they didn't try to give me a Valium or something to calm me down.
Nothing has been solved here. Little has been ruled out. We are not amused.
The leg swelling issue remains as well. If I stop taking the water pill for two days POOF! it comes back. I can skip one day but not two. I have one more refill left on the 'script and then I am going to have to (again) talk to a doctor who has no clue.
As I had to stop going to the chiropractor due to cost the numbness in the fingers is returning. Which means it is as I though initially. The chiropractor doesn't "fix it" the situation doesn't actually heal - once again treating symptoms not finding answers. In this case though I do know what the problem is - pinched nerve. I was trying to avoid surgery. I don't want to limit my mobility and most neck surgeries do end up doing that. Plus there is the cost factor. I can't afford all this crap. I have noticed that the numbness is directly related to how tense my shoulders are - stands to reason that when the neck and shoulders are tight it puts pressure on the nerves and keeps the little bugger from popping out (and staying out) from under the supposed bone spur between the 5th and 6th vertebrae.
Oh and here's a new one... got a small sunburn on the drive on the way over to Peoria during Memorial Day weekend. It actually peeled - only the 2nd time in my life THAT has happened - and a freckled got itchy. I scratched not really paying attention and today said freckle now appears to be a fluid filled blister thingy.
I have pretty much had it with all this. On the "up" side, taking the vitamin D3 does seem to be helping somewhat. I am no longer falling asleep by 8 p.m. and do generally feel better. And 5 of the weird sudden pounds have gone away - I have since read that low vitamin D can result in sudden weight gain. One mystery down... too many more to go however.
We have crossed into the realm of the absurd.
