Randomness

Trip to Australia was amazing, wonderful and way too short. I'm thinking it is a good idea to travel to the southern hemisphere when it is the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere. If there was enough $$ and I had my own plane I think I would travel so that I never had to spend more than a few days in winter. Get a small snow fix and then ZOOM back to 80+ degrees F. Ahhhhh!

But of course no such luck. So after 10 days of wonderful warmth back to dark short days, temps below freezing and three layers of clothes.

House survived while I was gone, kitties were Velcro attached to me for several days after I got back. Still are to a degree.

Surprise that in this economy I got a raise this year. 5% increase. Consistently billed in the top 10 in the company all year and ended the year in the top 4. Only complaint is that I don't go out and snag new clients. From where? NO ONE is snagging new clients. And besides I was told when I was hired that we don't cold call, ever. Fine with me since I don't cold call, ever. Told them that, they said not a problem: LIARS!!

Had to turn in vacation request for 2011 by mid-January. Held back 4 days so I can (hopefully) go somewhere warm in January 2012. Play my cards right and this could be an annual thing. Not Australia but warmth. I'm thinking cruise for next year.

Picked up an itch to start/resume writing. Have no idea about what. But it itches. Hanging out with creative people while I was away probably has something to do with that. And I do miss it after all. Thing is I was writing before Les, so it stands to reason that despite writing with Les for 14+ years I ought to be able to write without him now too.

Why is it that for two years in a row now the Amaryllis plant only puts up leaves and not blossoms. Last year it was one I bought, this year it is one Mom gave me for Christmas. Not warm enough in here maybe?

Still not used to it being 2011 and January is nearly over - will be in six days. Yikes!

Need to run for office this year to keep the school board seat I was appointed to in April. Got my petitions, need to start circulating them. Have to collect 75 valid signatures in order to get on the ballot. Considering all the restructuring we've having to do due to budget cuts this is NOT going to be an easy sell come November. Oh well. Worth a try. I am enjoying the post despite the craziness at present and feel I am making a difference.

Watched the State of the Union address tonight. Followed the Twitter feed from Keith Olbermann (http://twitter.com/keitholbermann) and commented myself on Facebook. Fun stuff. Good speech. Won't mean a thing but nicely done.

Tomorrow is a TMACOG event. The General Assembly. Long day ahead. Need to go, can't get billable hours while there, and it NEVER amounts to any leads that pan out (no one has $$) but still need to network. Oh joy.

Sleep is calling. Funny it has been all day. Been ignoring it. Can't much longer. Need to if only long enough to figure out what to wear tomorrow.
