One Cat Short of Crazy

You see a LOT of "crazy cat lady" items out there. Just visit CafePress and search for crazy cat lady the results are staggering. I am not fond of the phrase myself, it isn't cute, it isn't funny and it conjures up images of the little old lady with a house full of cats at the horder level. 

I have four cats presently and will be bringing home another kitten on Saturday. His name is Purrceval. Purrcy for short. He is at the Humane Society presently and was dropped off there with his mom (a beautiful gray tuxedo) and his four brothers (black tuxedos). Purry thought isn't black and isn't a tuxedo. His markings are more Siamese or Ragdoll in nature. He is just gorgeous. And that purr motor will not stop. 

Why Purrceval? Well of course the spelling is feline friendly but... Perceval was a Grail Knight. A rambunctious boy who (in some versions) became the Knight who found the Grail and cured the Fisher King. Also he purrs non-stop.

We need more male energy in the house. Poor Bonsai is so greatly outnumbered. The downside though is that being a shelter kitten at 10 weeks old he is already fixed. So he isn't going to smell like a boy. But as a shelter kitten I'm not the one paying the vet more than $200. He has had his tests and his surgery. I am not sure if he's had his first shots but I think so. I should know that now that I'm on the Board but... details, details.

Now they do say you want to keep cats in even numbers, that they form pair bonds and such. Well Honey and Rumba certainly have a pair bond but Bon and Lucky do not. Bon did have one with Honey before Rumba came but now he's odd "man" out and Lucky is bonded with me. Purrcy has a similar color scheme to Lucky which some say makes it easier for new cats to be accepted. We will have to see how/who he bonds with.

So will five cats make me a crazy cat lady? I don't think so. I do know my limit and that is five fuzzies. Sweetie would have made five but she's gone. So now Purrceval will make five.

I Just Do Not Understand... Maybe I Shouldn't

I may be repeating myself but it bears repeating... We've all seen the news reports. Black persons dying in custody or being shot or injured by police officers. The Black Lives Matter movement ( #BlackLivesMatter ) interrupting political rallies or matching in the streets. The response of All Lives Matter only serving to upset those trying to make a point with Black Lives Matter. I am appalled by what I am seeing, horrified even. But the really unnerving thing is: I really do not understand. I do not understand why after all this time, this nation is still struggling with and denying racial prejudice. Why can't we move beyond this stupid - apparently ingrained - dislike/hatred/fear of anyone who looks/acts/believes differently than "we" do? Fun Business Terms

Recently our local paper had a funny bit on new business terms. Apparently the writer had spent some time online and came across some great new words. Of course he had the time to spend online while at work because he is also the paper's editor. Be that as it may - and it does conjure up some interesting arguments over why the boss gets to surf while at work and the staff doesn't these are pretty darned good.
